File manager: examples of work
Initial filling of the site
To fill your site with files, we recommend that you use the option of unzipping archives on the server. The order of your actions to fill your site is as follows:
- Create an archive on your local computer containing the files of your future site.
- Upload the resulting archive to your home directory in the htdocs directory using the file manager. However, if the original archive files were in a common directory (for example www),
then after unzipping they will also be in the www directory, inside the htdocs directory.
To move all files from the www directory to htdocs, rename the www directory,
specifying ../ (the parent directory) as the new name for this directory.
Replacing a file or group of files
To replace one file (with an updated version, for example), use the file replacement function.
If you need to update several files at once, we recommend that you use the archive unzip function on the server. Literally after one or two uses of this function, you will learn how to quickly and easily update the content of your site..
